Analysis:
Before the start of the Olympic games on August 8, 2008 in Beijing, China there were parts of the world who were boycotting the games. Some believed that the oppression that China was placing on neighboring countries did not symbolize the unity, respect, and sportsmanship that the Olympic games embodied, but none can argue of the spectacular and sheer awesome that the Chinese put together for the opening and closing ceremonies. While the games started out controversial, the entertainment it provided for the seventeen days will be remembered for years to come. People will remember Phelps' eight gold medals and world records, the flamboyant Usian "Lightning" Bolt and his three world records and gold medals, the US Men Basketball "Redeem" Team, the "underage" Chinese gymnasts, and many other unforgettable events. For those seventeen days everything in the world was suspended, and people put aside their political barriers and hostility to enjoy and cheer their nation's athletes at the Olympics. In the end, Beijing feel nothing short of an amazing and timeless Olympic games that will be remembered and cherished for decades.
